What did Max Kolbe do? Max Kolbe is famous for offering to give his life to save a stranger. He died to save the life of a prisoner in Auschwitz concentration camp in 1941. He sacrificed himself for the sake of someone else.

Why do you think people are inspired by Max Kolbe today? Kindness Courage Love Why do you think people are inspired by Max Kolbe today? Each group has 5 minutes to use the ‘hint words’ to come up with at least 1 reason why Max Kolbe continues to inspire people. Write in books, feedback. Sacrifice Heroic Helping others

Please link the pictures with words Greater love has no man, than this, that a man gives up his life for his friends. Must work in pairs to do this before 1 pair is selected to make the link.

Why have we learnt this today? Ask for ideas. Can have a minute to jot down some ideas in back of book. Prompt them to understand the link between sacrifice and agape, understanding Christianity, allows us to identify the relevance of sacrifice in today’s society (could lead to discussion of relevance of sacrifice/evidence of sacrifice in modern society).

Plenary You should now know who I am, what I did, and how I inspire people. Go back to your image of me from the start of the lesson and add the things that you have learnt about me  3 mins
