All Around Characteristics Thick, dry waterproof skin Most to all have scales Most reptiles have a three-chambered heart, an exception: Crocodilians . The heart allows less oxygen filled blood and carbon dioxide blood to mix together.

Lizards Lizards have movable eyelids, external ears, and clawed toes on each foot. Lizards eat: plants, other reptiles, insects, spiders, worms, and mammals. They have a special joint on the jaw that unhinges and makes their mouth bigger.

Turtles Only reptile that has a two-part shell made of hard, bony plates. Their muscles are attached to the lower and upper part of the top part of the shell Turtles can withdraw their heads and legs into the shells to protect against predators. They feed on insects, worms, fish, and plants. Like amphibians. Turtles live in both water and land. Like amphibians.

IN WATER ON LAND

Crocodiles They are found in or near water in warm climates. They are lizard-like in shape, and their backs have large, deep scales. Crocodilians can be distinguished from each other by the shape of their heads. Crocodiles have narrow head with a triangular-shaped snout.
