Baker Academia: Key to Excellence and Rigor

Introducing - AP Capstone is an innovative program that helps you stand out in the college admissions process by developing the critical skills needed to succeed in college and in life. Emphasizes Critical Skills Needed for College & Beyond Complements the in-depth subject-matter study in AP Two new courses—AP Seminar and AP Research—allow students to immerse themselves in topics that matter to them, while they develop the analytic, research, problem-solving, and communication skills that colleges seek in their applicants. The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program is offering AP Capstone™.   AP Capstone™ is an innovative program that helps students stand out in the college admission process by developing the critical skills needed to succeed in college and in life. Two new courses — AP Seminar and AP Research — allow students to immerse themselves in topics that matter to them while developing the analytic, research, problem-solving, and communication skills that colleges seek in their applicants. This challenging program helps deepen a passion for learning, gives students greater confidence in their academic skills, and provides a broader perspective on their world.

BIT Academy Business & Information Technology In our ever-increasing technological world, students need to have the opportunity to succeed in all of their future endeavors. The Business and Information Technology (BIT) Academy at Baker High School is designed to emphasize courses needed in order to succeed. Whether the student wants to join the workforce out of high school or have college experience Baker Academies focus on making them prepared for anything to which they aspire.

EMIT Academy Engineering, Mechanical, Industrial, Technical The EMIT academy is designed to offer students the opportunity for hands-on experiences in engineering, manufacturing, industrial and technical fields within the curriculum framework. Through partnerships with local businesses and a rigorous curriculum students will gain the necessary skills to continue on to post-secondary educational opportunities in related fields.

FAME Academy Fine Arts, Media, and Entertainment The FAME Academy is designed to introduce students to careers and opportunities in the liberal and fine arts fields. These opportunities lie within the three following interest areas: performing arts, visual arts and design, and communications. The experiences students will gain from their classes and participation in the FAME Academy will be invaluable as they move on to college and careers after high school.

Academy of (HS)2 Health Sciences and Human Services The Academy of Health Sciences and Human Services created an environment designed to allow students the opportunity to explore careers in health sciences. Challenging coursework coupled with opportunities for job shadowing, internships, and volunteer work experiences will better prepare these students as they continue into college and directly into a career field.

MAZES Academy Marine and Zoological, Environmental Sciences The MAZES Academy is designed to give high school students opportunities to prepare for careers in marine, zoological, and environmental science fields. Students will be introduced to real world problem-solving experiences through job shadowing and internship opportunities. The MAZEs Academy will provide students with 21st century skills that will enable them to work in groups, complete projects, and apply critical thinking during the project-based situations.

TAPS Academy Transportation And Public Safety The mission of the Transportation and Public Safety Academy (TAPS) is to prepare students for a range of public service fields. Through rigorous academic programs students will choose from a variety of courses that meet individualized interests. Many special features of the TAPS Academy include advanced technology to enhance the delivery of instruction, rigorous theme-based learning, and community partnerships.
