Magnavox odyssey The very first video game console, this was made in 1972. It was made by Ralph Baer. After they built the very first console they started to add more stuff on so they released different versions of it. This was only successful because there was no other consoles out yet. Only 2 games for this.

Atari This is the second generation of gaming, it was invented by Atari. This was created in 1977. There were a lot more games for this then there was for the Magnavox Odyssey. The graphics on this system was not the best because you could see that it was pixelated .

Colecovision This console was developed by Colecovision, the storage for the game was that you had to plug it in to the console instead of it already being stored on it. This console had add-ons to this such as the joysticks or the steering wheel.

[N]intendo [e]ntertainment [s]ystem The NES was made by Nintendo. This game system was better because it had better graphics and it had more games that you could play. It had a controller that only had 5 buttons so it was easy to play.

Sega genisis This console was made by SEGA. It isnt a very bid advancement from the NES, it was pretty much the same thing except that there was different manufacturers and maybe some different games.

[P]lay[s]tation one The PlayStation one was made by SONY. The PlayStation one has discs that you put into the top part of the discs so it can read the disc. This console was more compact than the other ones.

Todays gaming consoles Todays consoles are ten times better then 20 years ago because today we have the Wii , Xbox 360, and the PlayStation 3. They all have better graphics then before, they have more games that are more complex then before. The consoles have add-ons that make you move physically to play the games, but the Wii is all movement when you want to play the game. In the future I would say that there will be many consoles made that are more complex then the ones out today.

Pros and cons Pros Cons It is entertaining. This can be addictive. Helps your agility and reflex's. Overuse may cause problems with their vision Helps your strategy skills. You can get exercise from some video games.
