Why did the Battle of Gettysburg take place? They met accidentally and the shooting began when a Confederate Brigade ran into Union Cavalrymen.

Where did the battle take place? It took place in Gettysburg , Pennsylvania.

What was the significance of this battle? This battle was the major turning point in the Civil War.

HOW WAS THE BATTLE FOUGHT? They used guns, cannons, and swords.

When did the battle take place? July 1 – 3 , 1863 July 1 July 2 July 3 Confederate Commanders sent troops to engage. Lee arrives in the middle of the night & orders two of his Generals to attack the flanks of Union forces on Culp’s Hill. Fighting began 4:00 AM with cannon fire. Union artillery pounded the Rebels at the lower end of Culp’s Hill.

Who were the important men? Union: General George Meade Confederate: General Robert E. Lee

Who were the important women? There were no important women on the Union or Confederate side of the war. However, there was a women named Jennie Wade, who was killed baking biscuits when a bullet came through her kitchen window. Good but deadly!!!!!
