VBS Sunday “A Powerful God”
“When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son. But the more they were called, the more they went away from me. They sacrificed to the Baals and they burned incense to idols….How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, Israel? …I will not carry out my fierce anger, nor will I devastate Ephraim again.” (Hosea 11:1-2, 8-9 NIV11)
Despite the failures of the people, God is a God of love who would not turn his back on them.
“I will gather you back from the nations and bring you back from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you back the land of Israel again….I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.” (Ezekiel 11:17-18 NIV11)
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8 NIV11)
God is willing to use his great power to save the people he created.
