What is The Children’s University? Children's University is a national initiative which raises Children's aspirations by promoting, encouraging and rewarding children aged between 7 and 14 for taking part in after school hours activities. Using the website it is easy to find Public Learning Destinations when you go on holiday (http://www.childrensuniversity.co.uk/) Definition top paragraph. Find out more from CU website (including learning destinations) and read success stories

Why join? Peterborough Children's University is a fun way to expand your horizons and get involved in activities over and above school. It allows you to shine in different environments and rewards you for taking part. Evidence shows that it improves academic achievement at school. Underlined

How to participate Your parents will receive a letter on Thursday’s Tutor Evening which will explain that you will need to purchase a passport from school for £1 Our after school activities will be validated as learning destinations. Peterborough Children's University validates public Learning Destinations in the surrounding areas and you can visit these during school holidays, at weekends and after school and gain more Learning Hours which gets recorded on your passports. We will monitor the number of hours. Passport used to collect stamps and is subsidised £1 by the school. We will validate our afterschool clubs. We monitor hours.

Learning Destinations Learning Destinations are places and organisations to which you can 'travel' with your Passport To Learning. They provide high quality learning activities and experiences with a 'wow' factor. Range from a museum to a farm or from an airport to a university as long as the learning activity connects with Children's University learning. Learning destinations can be found on the website http://www.childrensuniversity.co.uk/

Participating…… Year 7 students at NPA will have a Passport To Learning to record the number of hours of completed CU validated learning activities. You will be encouraged to progress through the national certification scheme, moving through Bronze, silver and gold certificates which are awarded at CU Undergraduate, CU Postgraduate and CU Doctorate levels. Once 100 or more hours have been stamped, you will have the opportunity to graduate from Peterborough Cathedral, wearing a graduation gown. .
