Math Dividing Fractions

What Are You Learning? I CAN divide fractions.

Why Do You Need To Know This? Dividing fractions is important because many real-world situations deal with fractions. Such as recipes, measurements, distances, lengths, and heights.

Two numbers with a product of one. Vocabulary Reciprocal Two numbers with a product of one. Example: 5/6 • 6/5 = 1

Dividing Fractions Flip the second fraction (find reciprocal). You can cross simplify if you choose. Multiply the numerators. Multiply the denominators. Or you can simplify after you multiply.

Find each quotient. Simplify if needed. ¾ ÷ ½ ¾ ÷ ¼ 4/5 ÷ 8/9 5/6 ÷ 2/3 2/3 ÷ 4/9 5/8 ÷ 2/3

Dividing Mixed Numbers Math Dividing Mixed Numbers

Dividing Mixed Numbers Rename the mixed number as an improper fraction. Flip the second fraction (find reciprocal). You can cross simplify if you choose. Multiply the numerators. Multiply the denominators. Or you can simplify after your multiply.

Find each quotient. Simplify if needed. ½ ÷ 7 ½ 2 2/3 ÷ 4 5 3/5 ÷ 4 2/3 6 2/3 ÷ 3 1/9 5 2/7 ÷ 2 1/7 4 ¾ ÷ 2 ½
