Value of Culture & Diversity By: Jaclyn Koger #6

WHY embrace cultures? I believe it is important to embrace other cultures in order to: A. Enrich our lives B. Appreciate other cultures C. Understand others better As Augustine of Hippo once said, “The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.”

Broth-Language

Cheese- Religion

Meat-Social Habits

Yerba Mate vs. Sweet Tea

Vegetables- Art

Spices- Music

A story to tell Chicken Fried describe the artist’s life and culture. “Well I was raised up beneath the shade of a Georgia Pine And that's home you know Sweet tea, pecan pie, and homemade wine Where the peaches grow And my house it's not much to talk about But it's filled with love that's grown in southern ground And a little bit of chicken fried Cold beer on a Friday night A pair of jeans that fit just right And the radio up.”

Why enriching “Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.” ― Terry Pratchett, A Hat Full of Sky

Pt 2 Appreciate other cultures I interviewed my friend on her thoughts of culture and diversity Note her cultured decorations and asked why: 1. the aesthetics, it looks cool 2. I remember the experience 3. the lessons I want to remember of that person, whether it’s their kindness or stories. *These decorations are reminders that help me appreciate those people for that time.

POINT 3: Lead us to better understand them God gave us differences as a way to test our ability to connect and work with people unlike ourselves. We are all brothers and sisters and God gives us opportunities to get to know people very different from us.

Closing quote Ultimately, Marcel Proust said, “The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.” Try it our for yourself!
