FUN FACTS In 1995 an archeologist discovered the world’s first lighthouse. It was called Pharos and was one of the 7 Wonders of the World. An earthquake caused it to tumble and it has been a mystery for over 600 years! Wealthy women wore an “incense cone” on their heads. It was filled with sweet smelling animal fats. During the night the fat would melt and the oil would run down their faces and into their wigs making them smell good. The Rosetta Stone was found in 1799. It had three different types of writing on it: hieroglyphics, demotic, and ancient Greek. In 1822 the hieroglyphics were deciphered. Back
