What is stroke? Stroke occurs when the supply of blood to the brain is either interrupted or reduced. When this happens, the brain does not get enough oxygen or nutrients which causes brain cells to die.

Transient ischemic attack (TIA) stroke Ischemic stroke Hemorrhagic strokes Transient ischemic attack (TIA)

CONTENTS Causes Symptoms Diagnosis Treatment 1 2 3 4

1 PART ONE causes

Ischemic stroke is the most common form of stroke.

Hemorrhagic Hemorrhagic stroke are caused by arteries in the brain either leaking blood or bursting open. Hypertension can lead to rupturing of blood vessels and hemorrhagic stroke.

What the difference between ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke? 1

Transient is chemic attack (TIA) TIAs are different from the aforementioned kinds of stroke because the flow of blood to the brain is only briefly interrupted. TIAs should be regarded as medical emergencies just like the other kinds of stroke, even if the blockage of the artery is temporary. Transient is chemic attack (TIA)

PART TWO Symptoms of stroke 2

1 3 PART THREE How to diagnose a stroke

Strokes happen fast and will often occur before an individual can be seen by a doctor for a proper diagnosis. The acronym FAST is a way to remember the signs of stroke, and can help identify the onset of stroke more quickly.

4 PART FOUR Treatments for stroke

Treatment can begin with drugs to break down clots and prevent further ones from forming. Ischemic stroke

Treatment can begin with drugs being given to reduce the pressure in the brain, overall blood pressure, prevent seizures and prevent sudden constrictions of blood vessels. Hemorrhagic stroke

A new report says that playing simple card games can help stroke patients with their recovery just as much as virtual reality gaming. Canadian researchers conducted a test on 141 patients to determine whether gaming or more traditional games was better at treating stroke sufferers. They found that playing cards, games like dominoes, and even throwing a paper ball into a basket improved patients' motor skills. They said playing bin goor using a Wii games console also aided recovery from a stroke. The researchers reported that if the type of task used for the rehabilitation of motor skills is intensive, repetitive and gets the hands and arms moving, it will help those recovering from a stroke. A stroke happens when the blood supply to part of the brain is cut off A stroke happens when the blood supply to part of the brain is cut off. It can lead to death if not treated quickly. Following a stroke, sufferers can experience a number of physical changes such as drooping face muscles, slurred speech and a loss of strength in the arms and legs. There searchers said it wasn't clear whether virtual reality gaming or traditional games helped sufferers more. Researcher Dr. Gustavo Saposnik said: "We all like technology and have the tendency to think that new technology is better than old-fashioned strategies, but sometimes that's not the case. In this study, we found that simple recreational activities that can be implemented anywhere may be as effective as technology." Text here Text here
