M.Tech Technical Seminar Presentation PHASE - I R.V.COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING,BENGALURU-560059.

R. V. COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING BENGALURU – 560059 Technical Seminar Phase-I “Augmented Reality” Presented by ASHWINI BIRADAR 1RV16SSE02 Under the Guidance of Prof. Sushmitha N Assistant Professor, Department of ISE, RVCE, Bengaluru-59.

INTRODUCTION Human Computer Interface The human-computer interface can be described as the point of communication between the human user and the computer. The flow of information between the human and computer is defined as the loop of interaction. Virtual Reality Virtual reality (VR) is a computer technology that uses virtual reality headsets or multi-projected environments, sometimes in combination with physical environments or props, to generate realistic images, sounds and other sensations that simulate a user's physical presence in a virtual or imaginary environment. Augmented Reality Augmented reality (AR) is a live direct or indirect view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are "augmented" by computer-generated or extracted real-world sensory input such as sound, video, graphics, haptics or GPS data.

RELEVANCE Urban Exploration : Augmented Reality is beginning to shift the landscape of urban exploration, making the experience ever-more informative, from language translation applications to cultural enrichment tools. It will lead people to be more informed, advertised to, and assisted on every urban excursion, removing the traditional happenstance from urban exploration.

Enhanced Education – With everything turning digital and the e-learning trend catching on, Augmented Reality has become a boon for the industry. From dinosaurs to anatomy of heart, students can now get hands-on practise and simplified complex theories with visual aids.

Medical – Medicos are looking upto Augmented Reality for a ‘next-generation’ kind of clinical practice and diagnosis. Integrating Augmented Reality with existing diagnostic methods like scanning can bring innovative changes to the field of healthcare.

Construction – Augmented Reality has added new dimensions to the construction industry. Now architects and construction crew can visualise better with Augmented Reality. Imagine visualising the whole house with just a blueprint in hand. Space planning and designing could be easier and faster with Augmented Reality technology.

Entertainment Games are a fairly common use for augmented reality, helped by the popularity of mobile-based gaming.

Safety and Rescue Operations Using augmented reality, the app overlays symbols on the user’s surroundings, pointing out where accidents have occurred, and offering graphic details to warn us about safety.

CONCLUSION Augmented reality enhances the experienced environments or situations and offers enriched experiences. Originally, the immersive augmented reality experiences were used in entertainment and game businesses, but now other business industries also getting interested about AR's possibilities for example in knowledge sharing, educating, managing the information flood and organizing distant meetings.
