Figurative Language Rhymes- words that have the same vowel sign and the same end sound. Rhythm- is the feeling of a beat (like in music) that you get as you read out loud. Stanza- a group of lines that create sort of a paragraph within a poem. Free verse- does not have a set rhythm or pattern of rhyme. They can rhyme sometimes, but will not all of the time.

Onomatopoeia- words that sound like what they mean~ hiss, clatter, bang, and quack are all examples. Similes- comparing using like or as~Freddie is growing like a weed. Metaphors- comparing two things saying that they are the same thing~ Jay’s heart is a drum in his chest. Personification- gives an animal or an object human qualities~ Dad screamed as the copier ate page after page.
