What is 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten? 1,000 Books is a Nation-wide program that encourages parents to read to children at home. http://1000booksbeforekindergarten.org/ 1,000 Books is a “Goldilocks” number; It’s not too big, not too small, it’s just right! 1,000 Books is 3 books a day over 1 year! Parents can achieve this number with the help of the library. Incentives/encouragement along the way give children/families positive reinforcement.
