MAE 435 Progress Report 28 March 2016 Formula SAE MAE 435 Progress Report 28 March 2016 2016 Formula SAE Team

Vehicle Status Vehicle is fully assembled and operational , minus aerodynamic package Vehicle Testing began two weeks ago Multiple tests performed and data collected (Brake test, Sound test, Oil pressure analysis, ect) Vehicle data is being analyzed in order to ensure proper vehicle tuning and further subsystem development 2016 Formula SAE Team

Gantt Chart 2016 Formula SAE Team

Aerodynamic System Diffuser has been laid in carbon fiber Tip of three piece nose cone has been laid in carbon fiber Additional nose cone molds will be laid in carbon fiber this coming week. Diffuser has been laid in carbon fiber and is being final sanded and straightened in preparation for painting and mounting. Tip of 3 piece nose cone has been laid in carbon fiber (if someone wants to snap a quick pic of it to add to slide show) Other 2 molds are being finished and should be laid in carbon fiber this coming week. Attached are pictures of the "hood" mold, nosecone under tray mold, nose cone tip mold, and sanded diffuser. That's were I'm at right now, text me if you have any other questions or if you need anything else. 2016 Formula SAE Team

Suspension All suspension components fabricated and mounted on vehicle Vehicle alignment and camber adjustment completed prior to testing Suspension components recorded on video during testing for visual analysis (Rear Right Suspension) 2016 Formula SAE Team

Brake System Front brake assemblies installed and operational Deceleration test complete for front brakes alone Rear brake assembly still remains to be installed Brake pressure sensors remain to be installed (Front Brake Assy) 2016 Formula SAE Team

Oiling System Oil system has been fully fabricated Fully operational with exception of the oil cooler Calibrated oil pressure sensor and began logging data (MoTeC Data Acquisition) 2016 Formula SAE Team

Cooling System Fabrication of all main cooling system components has been completed Radiator was tested and repaired by Beach Radiator Coolant lines were run and cut to length Hard coolant lines were fabricated and installed Cooling system and fans tested Thermostat housing failure 2016 Formula SAE Team

Exhaust System Exhaust was mounted along with oxygen sensor for data readings. A fixed mounting location was established to reduce vibration from the muffler. Sound test completed – 113 decibels (Header and Muffler Assy) 2016 Formula SAE Team

Drivetrain All drivetrain components fabricated and installed on vehicle Drivetrain components tested in both static and dynamic events Rear axles removed after testing and inspected (Chain Tensioner) 2016 Formula SAE Team

Cost Report Hard Reviewing all sub groups of Cost Report with advisor Finalized Version of entire document due 3/29 Document postmarked and submitted electronically by April 1st 2016 Formula SAE Team

Future Work Repair failures incurred during testing Collect data for all subgroups Continued Vehicle Testing locally Engine Dynamometer testing at TCC Dynamic racing simulation at VIR 2016 Formula SAE Team
