HOMININS TO HOMINIDS Hominids is a sub-group of hominins and is made up of all humans and human-like species.

PRIMATES Primates are a group that include lemurs, lorises, tarsiers, monkeys, apes and humans. They have undergone extensive adaptive radiation – showing a variety of structures. Most are adaptations to arboreal life. Some primates have become ground-dwellers.

MONKEYS, APES & HUMANS With the development of new technologies it is evident that very early on primates split into two main branches: Promisians (Lemurs & Lorises). Anthropoids (New & Old World Monkeys).

EVOLUTIONARY EVIDENCE Fossil records DNA Biochemical data

THE STORY OF HUMANS About 35 million years ago in Africa the lineage to modern apes separated from the Old World primates. Ramapithecus is believed to be the beginning of this lineage. There is a belief that Australopithecus is a direct human ancestor.

HUMAN EVOLUTION Kenyanthropus Australopithecus Homo There is a belief that modern humans originated in Africa and about 100 000 years ago then spread out to other parts of the world where they replaced ancient civilisations.
