What goes on? Lining up outside before coming in 8:55am Most days straight to assembly after registration Maths and English either side of break – fresh in the morning Break 10:45-11:05 Lunch 12:30-1:30 (no afternoon break) Topic – Geography, History, Art and Design and Technology, Computing Guided reading (small group reading with an adult) AR (Accelerated Reader) Spellings French P.E. (Tuesdays) – kits named Music R.E. (Religious Education) Circle time P.S.H.E (Personal, Social and Healthy Education), Values and Rights Golden time Special Person (specific date – in reading diary) Each class has their own timetable but this is what our timetable is filled with.
Snacks and Water 10:45 – 11:05 eaten on playground Long time since breakfast Fruit and vegetables only Healthy school award Children know Article 24 – healthy food and clean water Named water bottles daily Mention they have a drink whilst eating their fruit, also after break, lunch and any other time they need one. Need for a BOTTLE because parents can monitor how much fluid, and easy to take out for P.E. etc.
Maths Interactive learning Use of equipment, e.g. cubes, 100 square, numberlines, calculators, place value cards etc. Targeted support within groups Appropriate challenge Problem solving Sumdog – access at home too Have Abacus logged on with an interactive tool, e.g. bead strings for parents to see how we use these tools. Log on to a child’s Abacus for them to see what they can do at home.
English Topic based where possible Focus on Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar (SPAG) Handwriting must be joined – pen licence Writing for extended periods of time Writing for a range of purposes and genres, e.g. letters, instructions, stories etc Editing and improving writing Guided reading AR continued

Homework Expectations Reading Everyday for a few minutes With an adult as often as can Record in reading record with what page read to. Spelling Look, say, cover, write, check Other practise too – make it fun Statutory spelling list Spelling rules Times tables By end of year 4 need to know all 12x12 Regular practise Show example of learning log (Izzy Leigh) Show reading record book. Show year 2 spelling sheet that will come home, demonstrate look, say cover, write, check method. Extra practise should be done on scrap pieces of paper. Have examples of tricky words to show.

Pupil Premium. Are you Eligible? The qualifying benefits to receive Pupil Premium Funding for all children (and free school meals in years Three and Four) are: Income Support Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance Income-related Employment and Support Allowance Support under Part IV of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 the Guarantee element of State Pension Credit Child Tax Credit (provided you are not also entitled to Working Tax Credit, and your annual gross income does not exceed £16,190 as assessed by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs) Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit) Universal Credit (during the initial roll-out of this benefit)
