Terminology Stop motion animation: (also called stop frame animation) ….is animation that is captured one frame at time, with physical objects that are moved between frames. When you play back the sequence of images rapidly, it creates the illusion of movement.

Terminology Frame-by-frame: Frame-by-frame animation changes the contents of ‘the stage’ in every frame and is best suited to complex animation in which an image changes in every frame instead of simply moving across ‘the stage’. Traditionally, animation is 24 Frames per second. For our animations, you may go slower than that.

How to? Step 2: Your story https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irOecGxh36g https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cY207xbWwD8

Early Stop-Motion Early stop motion was captured with film cameras. Animators could not see how their work looked until they got their film processed. They used surface gages to keep track of where their characters were, and how far to move them. If the animation was not fluid, if the set had been bumped, or if the lighting was bad, the work was lost and the animator had to start all over again. Where to now? This assignment is to be completed individually! You may assist other students with their stop motion animations, but you are ALL to present an INDIVIDUAL stop motion animation. Story Board of your ‘Stop Motion Animation’ Get inspired!! Browse the internet / YouTube for some ideas Sketch out your ideas on story board and stick this into your Visual Diary Approval

1 Gather all of your materials. You will need a basic digital camera with lots of memory, a computer, a way to connect your camera to your computer, props, characters, and a plot.

2 Understand what you are going to do in your movie. Will you make a fight, car chase, or love story? Any type of movie you want can be made.

3 Set up your props, character stances, and the rest of your set.

4 Start snapping photos! Take your first picture, then move the characters or props slightly, and take another picture. Moving them less than an inch per shot is recommended.

Import images onto computer (iMovie) and make further changes. 5 Import images onto computer (iMovie) and make further changes.
