Thanksgiving Vacation What’s Happening This Week
Presentation transcript:

Mrs. Morano’s Pre-K News Week of November 13, 2017 This week’s theme: Places in our community. Math ELA In math this week began talking about the position words: above, below, between, next to, in front of and behind. Please practice using these words at home with your child. Our trade book for the week was The Two Promise Walk by Ofelia Dumas. In the story Lisita and her grandmother went for a walk. On their walk, they passed by several key places in the community. We discussed how some of the places in the story were like our own community. Our vocabulary words for the week were: hospital, house, library, park, post office, and street Handwriting Our letter of the week was letter O. We practiced writing the letter O as well as thinking of words that start with the /o/ sound Science In Science we discussed the importance of shelter and why we need it. We talked about how the weather is changing and that now we need to wear coats, hats and gloves to protect ourselves from the cold. Social Studies We read our Scholastic News letter using the interactive digital edition about Thanksgiving. We talked about why we celebrate Thanksgiving and some of the traditions our families participate in at the holidays, Religion . News & Reminders Please labels all jackets, sweaters, hats, gloves and scarves with your child’s name. There is NO EDP on Wednesday, November 22nd. In Religion we learned that God gave us the gift of music. The children learned that songs can be prayers. They met David again, this time as the writer of song-prayers called psalms. They made a banner and marched around the classroom to God Bless America to honor God. .
