About Gather Gather celebrates culture, community and the ethos of global citizenship at University of Edinburgh. Jointly organised by Edinburgh University Students’ Association and Edinburgh Global, the university’s international office

Why Gather? 2008 – 2013, Global Horizons As our understanding of internationalisation evolved, we wanted to: Bring people together Build community Cultivate connections Offer a space to share stories Celebrate diversity

What is Gather? Students, internationalisation and collaboration at the core of the rebrand Events are independently run by students, staff, societies, collaborative groups and members of our local community, plus a few run by the core team Gather Film Focus, led by a student intern

How do we Gather? Over 1000 visitors to Gather 2017 Afropolitan An exhibition of various expressions from African members of the University and the wider community, exploring what Africa means to Africans Organised by students from the MasterCard Foundation Scholars Programme

How do we Gather? Over 1000 visitors to Gather 2017 Capoeira Taster Session Run by the Capoeira Society, a chance to try the Afro-Brazilian martial art with elements of dance and music

How do we Gather? Over 1000 visitors to Gather 2017 Voices from the Basque Country Organised by Lecturer in Hispanic Studies, we gathered around Nerea Bello, an anthropologist and singer based in Scotland to hear the evocative story of Basque song

How do we Gather? Support from Events Intern, including workshop funding and advice, helps Gather event organisers to: Learn about Gather Think creatively to generate and develop event ideas Find opportunities to collaborate Consider social responsibility and sustainability
