11 Facts About the Gap Between First Nations and the Rest of Canada Using the information presented in class and on pages 183-184 of your text, modify your answer above by either changing it, adding to it, or revising it.

Where do people go when they immigrate to Canada? According to your textbook, page 188, in 2007 where did the majority of immigrates settle when they came to Canada? Looking at the source from 2015 – has the same trend continued? Canadian Immigration by Province (2015) In 2006, page 190, What percentage of immigrants came to Alberta? According to the source from 2015, how what percentage of immigrants settled in Alberta?

Provincial Nomination Program Under the PNP, provinces and territories can “nominate” a percentage of the immigrants Canada selects each year. This means Alberta can specify that it needs immigrants with particular skills to help fill certain jobs. The program also allows some provinces to set up their own immigration offices in foreign countries and advertise immigration to their province The PNP is not a guarantee of where immigrants will settle in Canada – the Canadian government can not force immigrants to settle in certain areas. But PNP will increase the likelihood of immigrants settling in that province – Why?

Canada-Quebec Accord Under the accord, Quebec can nominate the percentage of immigrants to Canada that corresponds to its population within Canada It allows Quebec to require immigrants that settle in Quebec to send their children to French-language schools Quebec seeks immigrants whose first language is French Every year about 75% of French-speaking immigrants settle in Quebec; but overall more non-Francophone immigrants settle in Quebec than Francophone immigrants.
