Reliability Assessment Committee Enoch Davies Manager, System Stability Planning Western Electricity Coordinating Council

BOD approved- RAC Recommendations Establish the Reliability Assessment Committee (RAC) Integrate PCC and TEPPC Continue all products currently produced by PCC and TEPPC Allow all stakeholders to be members of the RAC, its Subcommittees, Work Groups and Task Forces Establish Governing Bodies for RAC and Subcommittees Most decisions by consensus—Governing Body only acts to decide non-consensus issues Create four Subcommittees Scenario Development Studies Modeling Data Establish member forums Emphasize this is only a summary of recommendations contained in the Report Western Electricity Coordinating Council

Benefits of Creating RAC Improved Efficiency Reduced number of committees reduces Member time requirements Reduced WECC staff resources required to support Committees Focused stakeholder participation in reliability assessment activities Improved Effectiveness Focused reliability assessment expertise Broad understanding of potential reliability risks Consistent application of reliability assessments Consistent data and assumptions Improved Strategic Alignment Alignment with WECC 3-Year Operating Plan Integrated annual reliability assessment study program Western Electricity Coordinating Council

Western Electricity Coordinating Council Current Events RAC Governing Body members Selected Nominating Committee working to fill Subcommittee Governing Body positions RAC and subcommittee charters initial drafts under development Weekly RAC Governance Committee conference calls Western Electricity Coordinating Council

What Does this Mean for SRWG? All products currently under PCC continue SRWG’s work may be distributed between multiple subcommittees As subcommittees flesh out their respective obligations more will be known Status quo until RAC and the subcommittees are established Current Modeling and Data Subcommittees include the Modeling and Validation Work Group (same as current WG) and Power Flow Data Work Group, respectively Western Electricity Coordinating Council
