Established in 2011, the “Agronutritional cooperation of Region of Crete” is a specialized body, and constitutes the main tool for implementing the strategic plan for the development and upgrading of the food industry on the island of Crete. Apart from the main partner, which is the Region of Crete, in the company participate private companies operating in the food industry of Crete, chambers, groups of producers and associations of agricultural cooperatives. Provides services to all involved parties or individual businesses, regarding the way of promoting, distributing and improving products in order to expose them to the market (hotels, restaurants, provision chains, municipal and public markets). Organises workshops for consumers about the benefits of certified products. Participates in National and International Food shows and Programs promoting the Cretan Diet and products. Organises Business Missions aiming to bring in contact foreign entrepreneurs with Cretan ones, introducing Cretan products and start new partnerships. Ensures guarding of the traditional alimentary models in Crete.

Results – Impacts Number of certified Cretan products has considerably increased. 285 certified Cretan products from 57 businesses and 25 entrepreneurs of restaurants and hotels. Significant number of Cretans was encouraged either to return to the primary sector motivated by the chance of producing quality products with added value through the process of certification with the Quality label “Crete” or to start and improve related businesses supported by these products Concerned businesses have greatly improved their services.

Thank you
