AIM To Improve the strength of concrete using Granite powder as partial Replacement of Natural Sand. To observe the behaviour of Granite Powder on Concrete. To Improve the strength of concrete using Fly Ash as partial Replacement of Cement. To observe the behaviour of Fly Ash on Concrete.

GRANITE POWDER Granite is an igneous rock which is widelyused as construction material in different forms. Granite industries produce lot of dust and waste materials. While cutting the granite rocks, the powder produced is carried by the water and this water is stored in tanks. After evaporation of water the granite dust remained is transported and disposed on the lands. The wastes from the granite polishing units are being disposed to environment which cause health hazard. Disposing this granite fines is a major problem in an Urban set up. Factories are situated close to the residential areas that in case random disposal of the granite fines would lead to health hazards of the people dwelling in the areas in particular and also would prove to be an environmental hazard in general

FLY ASH Fly ash is a fine powder recovered from the gases of burning coal during the generation of electricity. Fly ash (Type F) from the Ennoor thermal power plant, Chennai, India was used in the present study. Fly ash is generally cheaper than Portland cement and fly ash do not contribute to the slump loss. It has been reported that the concrete with 10% fly ash exhibited higher early strength followed by an excellent development of strength over time. Hence in the present study 10% fly ash was considered as a replacement of cement. Ground granulated blast furnace slag is often used in concrete in combination with portland cementas part of blended cement Concrete containing ground granulated blast furnace slag develops strength over a longer period, leading to reduced permeability and better durability.

Felix Kala., Professor and HoD, Department of Civil Engineering, Dr.M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute University, Maduravoyal, Chennai, Tamil nadu, India – 600095 This paper examines the possibility of using granite powder as replacement of sand and partial replacement of cement with fly ash, silica fume, slag and superplasticiser in concrete. The test results obtained indicate that granite powder of marginal quantity as partial sand replacement has beneficial effect on the mechanical properties.

International Journal of Advanced Engineering Research and Studies E-ISSN2249–8974 EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION ON BEHAVIOUR OF CONCRETE WITH THE USE OF GRANITE FINES. Divakar. Y , Manjunath . S and Dr. M.U. Aswath. PG Student, B.I.T, Bangalore, Assistant Professor, RVCE, Bangalore, Professor – B.I.T, Bangalore This paper detailing about that an overall increase in strength with 35% replacement of fine aggregates with granite fines. This may achieved by adding plasticizers for workability by reducing the water cement ratio. The physical and chemical properties of granite fines are satisfied the requirement of code provisions.

Partheeban, Principal, Sriram Engineering College, Chennai-600 054. parthi011@yahoo.co.in This paper examines the possibility of using granite powder as replacement of sand and partial replacement of cement with fly ash, silica fume, slag and superplasticiser in concrete. The percentage of granite powder added by weight was 0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 as a replacement of sand used in concrete and cement was replaced with 7.5% silica fume, 10% fly ash, 10% slag and 1% superplasticiser.
