DOING THE MASTER’S WORK (Luke 9:1-6) Lk 9:6 So they began their circuit of the villages, preaching the Good News and healing the sick. What do we understand from the text we have read? Jesus has power and authority over all demons and diseases Jesus can give (and has given) His power and authority to His disciples A major reason for giving us His power is to promote the gospel Evangelism is not an exercise in comfort or convenience. Helpers will meet you as you go about the Master’s work Those who reject you will pay the price for their decision When out soul-winning, minister to the people’s needs too Training is required for soul-winning

DOING THE MASTER’S WORK (Luke 9:1-6) Lk 9:6 So they began their circuit of the villages, preaching the Good News and healing the sick. How important is the commission Jesus gave the disciples? This is the reason for His coming to earth – Jn 17:2-4 It was His main reason for appointing disciples – Mk 1:16-20 It is the last commission He gave His disciples – Mt 28:19-20 It is the ‘harvest’ from God’s sowing of Jesus – Jn 3:16; Lk 10:2b Teaching people about Jesus is main work of church – 1 Tim 4:6-7 God expects profit from us in form of souls won – Mt 25:14-30 Disciples who do not win souls will be removed – Jn 15:1-4

DOING THE MASTER’S WORK (Luke 9:1-6) Lk 9:6 So they began their circuit of the villages, preaching the Good News and healing the sick. How do we become productive in soul winning?

DOING THE MASTER’S WORK (Luke 9:1-6) Lk 9:6 So they began their circuit of the villages, preaching the Good News and healing the sick. How do we become productive in soul winning? Ask God for the Holy Spirit and power to witness – Act 1:4-5, 8 Go out and preach the Good News to everyone – Mk 16:15 Believe that you have received power and use it – Mk 16:17-18 Relate with the people at their level, be part of their lives – Lk 9:3-4 Be business-like, it is not time for distractions – Lk 10:4b Don’t go around seeking comfort when on assignment – Lk 10:7 Don’t argue with those who reject your message; move on-Lk10:10 Don’t rejoice in your power, rejoice in your salvation

DOING THE MASTER’S WORK (Luke 9:1-6) Lk 9:6 So they began their circuit of the villages, preaching the Good News and healing the sick. Conclusion: We have been called into the Master’s work Jesus made us understand that God the Father is the God of the harvest and He sends workers into His field (Lk 10:2). He also says as the Father sent Him, He has sent us (Jn 17:18). His commission to us is to preach the Good News of the Kingdom of God to all men and make disciples of them (Mt 28:19). Are you doing so today?
