Challenges/Opportunities Increasing costs with added regulations. New regulations come with annual implementation costs and training costs. For example we’ve had absorbed costs for recent Emergency Planning, Safety Management and Security Program regulatory changes. Affects of additional regulations has caused the airport to increase staff. Succession planning. Average age for airport employees is in the mid 50’s. Succession planning has started with the Airport Management Trainee position. We are looking at, over the next couple of years, retiring an employee each year. Current aircraft operating from Lethbridge; J31 has an air service fee of $90.62 per rotation. BE1900D has an air service fee of $96.00 per rotation. Larger aircraft types such as; DH8C operated by Air Canada would generate air services fees of $233.03 per rotation. Q400 operated by WestJet would generate air services fees of $409.90 per rotation. 737-600 would generate air services fees of $812.07 per rotation The smaller aircraft types used for scheduled air service provides only minimal revenues in consideration to maintenance costs which would be the same for larger aircraft types. For example moving from a BE1900 to a Q400 with the same frequency would more than triple the income from scheduled aircraft. May require more than one slide 29 August 2018
