THE REPRODUCTIVE STRATEGIES OF CHIMPANZEES & TADPOLES AKA FROGS

Reproductive Category Asexual reproduction Asexual reproduction is a type of reproduction by which offspring arise from a single organism, and inherit the genes of that parent only; it does not involve the fusion of gametes and almost never changes the number of chromosomes. Sexual reproduction The production of a new living organism by combining genetic information from two individuals of different types. In most organisms, the male sex produces a small motile gamete that travels to fuse with a larger stationary gamete produced by the other sex (female).

Reproductive Strategies Sexual reproduction in frogs, it usually involves the male grasping the female in a sexual position called amplexus. Many male frogs may develop a hard patch of skin on the back of their thumb. The female frog is generally larger than the male, sometimes significantly so. This is likely to be an adaptation that enables her to support him during mating. Sexual reproduction in chimpanzees. A female's estrous cycle lasts about 36 days. The females will mate for about 6 or 7 days during this period when they show the most genital swelling. Puberty in both sexes occurs at about 7 years of age, But females do not give birth until they are 13 or 14.

Comparison Between Two Organisms Frogs Frogs are amphibians. Amphibians are cold- blooded animals. They have backbones and can live both on land and in water. Common frogs live up to 10 - 12 years. Chimpanzees Chimpanzees are the mammals that are most like human beings. They share about 98% percent of our DNA with humans including your traits. Average chimpanzees live up to 40 - 50 years, They live in large communities of up to 150 members. Chimpanzees are highly endangered animals. Loss of habitat and increased commercial hunt reduced the number of chimpanzee from 2 million to 300,000 individuals.
