After 1989, the reforms in Romania have aimed at developing an educational system adapted to the requirements of a capitalist world. In this way, economic subjects are studied at all high school profiles, as basis for the integration of teens in a society developing around market economy.

ECONOMIC SUBJECTS IN THE HIGH SCHOOL CORE CURRICULUM The 10 th grade Entrepreneurial education The 11 th grade Economics The12 th grade Economie aplicata

SKILLS DEVELOPED DURING THEORETICAL HIGH SCHOOL During a school year ( the 10th grade ), students get information about how to start a business, the legal framework, problems of ethics and the business environment. During the last high school year, students draw up business plans, simulate funding possibilities, the way a functional business can be developed, problems of ethics.

TECHNOLOGICAL HIGH SCHOOL, ECONOMIC PROFILE 9 th grade Modules refering to economical framework and the economical products quality 10 th grade Modules refering to environamental and consumer protection, commercial techniques 11 th grade Modules refering to business marketing, operational planning, contracts, payment instruments 12 th grade Specializations modules, refering to opening a new business, competitive environment, funding, market studies, quality management

ABILITIES DEVELOPED DURING TECHNOLOGICAL HIGH SCHOOL During the 4 years, students develop the enterprising spirit, the interest in economic information, the analysis of a business environment. Besides the theoretical aspect, they have distinct periods of practice in the local economic centers, where they discover the real steps in the evolution of a business. In the final grades, they are invited to take part in virtual competitions concerning the setting up and the management of a company (the trial company)

THE NATIONAL COMPETITION: THE TRIAL COMPANY

SKILLS DEVELOPED DURING TECHNOLOGICAL HIGH SCHOOL They learn concretely how to draw up a business plan, to understand the risks and responsibilities, to know the ethical implications. During the last high school year, they can take part in seminars, establish connections with NGOs and can get involved in the development of some business ideas. They find out information about European funds, ways of access, terms and conditions, different styles, the connection with the business environment.

According to the new framework plans, available in Romania from 2017, a new economic subject will be studied in the 8th grade, aiming at initial training. It will be named Economic-Financial Education and will familiarize students with the fundamental notions and elements of an European economic system.
