Perimeter of Plane Figures Presented by:- Pooja Srivastava J.H.S Shamli

Perimeter A perimeter is a path that surrounds a two-dimensional shape. The word comes from the Greek peri (around) and meter (measure). The term may be used either for the path or its length - it can be thought of as the length of the outline of a shape. The perimeter of a circle or ellipse is called itscircumference.

Perimeter of Triangle The equation for the perimeter of any triangle is: P=a+b+c Where : a,b,c are the lengths of the three sides P is the perimeter.

Find the perimeter of a triangle that has sides equal to 3 cm,4cm,3cm Example- Find the perimeter of a triangle that has sides equal to 3 cm,4cm,3cm Solve- a=3 b=4 c=3 P=a+b+c P=3+4+3 P=10 cm The perimeter of a triangle is 10 cm. 3 3 4

Perimeter of a Quadrilateral Quadrilateral is a technical term for any 4-sided figure, including, squares, rectangles, parallelograms, and trapezoids. Rectangle Parallelogram Trapezoid Square

Perimeter of rectangle The equation for the perimeter of any rectangle is: P=a+b+c+d Where : a,b,c,d are the lengths of the four sides P is the perimeter l w

The perimeter of a rectangle is 40 cm. Example- Find the perimeter of a rectangle whose length is 8 cm,and width is 12 cm Solve- L=8; W=12 P=2(l+w); P=2(8+12) P=40 P=2*20 The perimeter of a rectangle is 40 cm. 8 12

Perimeter of parallelogram The equation for the perimeter of any parallelogram is: P=a+b+c+d Where : a,b,c,d are the lengths of the four sides P is the perimeter a b

The perimeter of a parallelogram is 80 cm. Example- Find the perimeter of a parallelogram whose parallel sides are 16 cm,and 24 cm Solve- a=16; b=24 P=2(a+b); P=2(16+24) P=2*40 P=80 The perimeter of a parallelogram is 80 cm. 24 16

The equation for the perimeter of any square is: P=4s Where : Perimeter of square The equation for the perimeter of any square is: P=4s Where : s is the lengths of the sides P is the perimeter s

Find the perimeter of a square whose sides are 6 cm each. Solve- s=6 Example- Find the perimeter of a square whose sides are 6 cm each. Solve- s=6 P=4s P=4*6 P=24 The perimeter of a square is 24 cm. 6

Perimeter of trapezoid The equation for the perimeter of any trapezoid is: P=a+b+c+d Where : a,b,c,d are the lengths of the four sides P is the perimeter d c b

Find the perimeter of a trapezoid whose sides are 7 cm,6 cm,16cm,11cm Example- Find the perimeter of a trapezoid whose sides are 7 cm,6 cm,16cm,11cm Solve- a=7 b=6 c=16 d=11 P=a+b+c+d P=7+6+16+11 P=40 The perimeter of a trapezoid is 40 cm. 7 16 11 6

Circumference of a circle The equation for the circumference of any circle is: C=2∏r Or C=∏d Where: ∏=approximately 3.14 or 22/7 r is the radius of the circle d is the diameter of the circle C is the circumference d

What is the circumference of the circle that has a radius of 15 cm. Solve: r=15 C=2∏r C=2*3.14*15 C=94.2 The circumference of a circle is 94.2 cm 15
