Hygiene ECM are operating on average temperatures of below 27,5 °C wetbulb. No incidents of health & hygiene except the adopted cases of NIHL. Closely monitoring fatigue on employees as well as intensified alcohol testing.( Especially during the silly season period ).

Health We have different systems in place: Voluntary counselling and testing “VCT” for TB and HIV Trained Peer educators on all sites. These people assist with coaching and assisting individuals to access services available to them , such as caraways and VCT. These services are open to direct family members of our employees. Careway's also assist us with appointments and placements of employees who suffer from substance abuse ( alcohol and drugs) in rehab facilities.

HIV / AIDS Annual testing done on sites, during AIDS Awareness week. Ad hoc testing done in conjunction with Medical schemes Testing done by Life Clinic. 236 Employees tested,48 employees were referred and 3 tested positive

TB TB testing done on all sites during TB Awareness Month. Testing done by Department of Health Total number of screenings conducted YTD = 2906 Confirmed cases = 6

Careways EWP program available to all employees and their immediate families. Program done by Careways On site clinic once a week.

Wellness Day Annual Wellness Day on all sites. General health checks (Cholesterol, diabetes, weight etc) Done by Avoir (Medshield, Discovery and Sizwe)

“Silly Season Start” When does “Silly Season Start” Although systems and inspection/coaching frequencies remained the same there is still a loss in focus during this period. Absenteeism's increase and this escalates our risk exposure Numerous interviews with individuals have not heeded any significant reasons for this phenomena. Some of the reasons include: Fiscal reasons with the upcoming festive season. Family and travel arrangements being made Other psychological issues such as remembering loved ones lost during the year As Eastern Chrome mines we have increased safety stand downs We have SHEQ awareness coaching with individual teams Supervisors are focusing on the personal aspect at safety meetings As mentioned in the previous slide our employees have access to the “Careway's program” Next year we will be running a program setup by DCM – Debt control management. This orgenisation will be assisting employees to control / manage their financial wellbeing.
