The following are 10 surprising facts about college. Will you be surprised?

Will you be surprised? 1. 75 percent of high school seniors are accepted to their first-choice colleges, but less than 57 percent can afford to attend.   2. 23 percent of full-time undergrads, who are 24 or younger, work 20 hours or more a week. 3. The annual family income of more than 47 percent of undergrads is less than $40,000.

Will you be surprised? 4. Only 0.4 percent of undergraduates attend one of the Ivy League schools.   5. 86.9 percent of freshmen expected to complete their degrees in four years or fewer. 6. Of the 2,350,000 college students enrolling per year, only 1,750,000 will graduate.

Will you be surprised? 7. The average college student’s debt is $23,700; the average student loan payment is $432 per month.   8. The average college student attends 62 parties a year. 9. In one year, 1,250,000 students transferred to another school; 1,125,000 dropped out. 10. 775,000 male students enroll in college each year; 1,575,000 female students enroll each year.
