The Education Trust: Thinking K-16 Achievement in America and Education Watch series describes student outcomes Elementary and Middle schools are sending students to high school with higher reading skills, high school student graduates -- no better than a decade ago.

An Achievement Gulf – of Our Own Making “Near the end of high school, Blacks and Latino youngster have skills about the same as white students near the end of junior high school. These patterns are not the results of poverty, racism or social conditions. School systems themselves are to blame- taking those that have less and giving them less in school

Are Today’s High School Graduates Ready? High School completion rate-same as 30 years ago High School completion in the world –17th Reading skills improvement in elementary and middle school but no better when they leave high school as their peers a decade ago Gains in Math and Science improved because of improvement below grade 8
