Western Bay of Plenty Sub-region Includes: Western Bay of Plenty District Council Tauranga City Council Coastal Marine Area The western Bay of Plenty sub-region encompasses the territorial areas of the Western Bay of Plenty District Council and Tauranga City Council and the Coastal Marine Area This map shows the sub region

SmartGrowth Strategy SmartGrowth Strategy 2051 based on population projections. By 2050 western Bay of Plenty sub-region population doubled to 290 000 people Projection based on growth trends over last 10-15 years The SmartGrowth Strategy 2051 was developed based on population projections that by 2050 the western Bay of Plenty sub-region population will have increased by 145 000 people to 290 000 people – double what it is currently This projection is based on growth trends over the last 10-15 years The maps on the following slides present the SmartGrowth response to these predicted urban population changes
