Japanese Creation Myth Discussion Questions: After reading and analyzing the myth create a list of various purposes for this myth. What is this creation myth trying to explain? Compare and contrast the Japanese creation myth with other creation stories previously studied in this course. According to the text, how did the islands of Japan form? Analyze gender roles in this story. What patriarchal themes are conveyed in the story? Analyze and explain the various forms of animism illustrated in the text. Use examples from the text that illustrate the divinity of Japanese imperialism.
