HOW MANY & HOW MUCH

 ^^How many^^, sayılabilir çoğul isimlerde kullanılır. ^^How many + plural noun^^ olarak kullanılır. Anlamı ^^kaç tane^^ dir.

EXAMPLES: How many biscuits are there in the packet ? (Paket içinde kaç tane bisküvi vardır) There are 8 biscuits

How many birds are there on the roof? (Çatıda kaç tane kuş vardır) There are 5 birds

How many brothers have you got? (Kaç tane erkek kardeşe sahipsin) I have got three brothers

How many students are there in the class? (Sınıfta kaç öğrenci var) There are 30 students

How many pencils are there on the table How many pencils are there on the table? (Masanın üzerinde kaç kalem vardır) There are 12 pencils

 ^^How much^^, sayılamayan isimlerde kullanılır. ^^How much + singular noun^^ olarak kullanılır. Anlamı ^^ne kadar^^ dır.

EXAMPLES: How much sugar do you want? (Ne kadar şeker istiyorsun) Two kilos.

Use How much …? With uncountable(U) nouns ( sayılamaz isimlerle )and Uncountable(singular) Full answers Short answers How much water do you drink? I drink a lot of water. A lot. I drink quite a lot of water. Ouite a lot. I don’t drink much water. Not much. I don’t drink any water. None. Countable(plural) How many sweets did you eat? I ate a lot of sweets. A lot. I ate quite a lot of sweets. Quite a lot. I didn’t eat many sweets. Not many. I didn’t eat any sweets. None. Use How much …? With uncountable(U) nouns ( sayılamaz isimlerle )and How many …? With plural countable(C) nouns ( sayılabilir isimlerle ) .

Use a lot (of) with C and U nouns for a big quantity (a lot of sayılabilir çoğul ve sayılamaz isimlerle ‘çok,birçok’ anlamında kullanılır.) EXAMPLE: There are a lot of people in the concert (konserde birçok insan var) There is a lot of noise in the classroom.(sınıfta çok gürültü var)

Many:Sadece sayılabilir isimlerde olumsuz cümlede ve ya soruda ‘çok’ anlamında kullanılır. EXAMPLE: Were there many changes in the city ? (şehirde çok değişiklik var mıydı)

Much: Sadece sayılamaz isimlerde olumsuz cümlede ve ya soruda ‘çok’ anlamında kullanılır. EXAMPLE: Was there much dirt at home? (evde çok kir var mıydı)
