SAT vs. ACT Testing ACT SAT Sections: Sections: English Reading Math Science Essay (optional) Calculator allowed on all math questions 4 reading passages Length: 2 hours, 55 minutes without essay 3 hours, 40 minutes with essay SAT Sections: Reading Writing Math Essay (optional) Calculator not allowed on some math questions 5 reading passages Length: 3 hours without essay 3 hours, 50 minutes with essay
