adulation Definition: noun to show excessive admiration or devotion to; flatter or admire servilely. Sentence: The crowd roared in noisy adulation as the speaker finished his oration.

censure Definition: noun strong or vehement expression of disapproval Sentence: The newspapers were unanimous in their censure of the tax proposal.

dissemble Definition: verb to conceal one's true motives, thoughts, etc., by some pretense Sentence: In a television interview the politician tended to dissemble rather than answer questions truthfully.

dissimulation Definition: noun the act of dissimulating; feigning; hypocrisy. Sentence: When Bruce Wayne donned his Batman costume his dissimulation was complete for nobody would recognize him.

droll Definition: adjective amusing in an odd way; whimsically humorous Sentence: Jerry thought his sense of humor was slapstick, but I thought it was droll.

expectorate Definition: verb to eject or expel matter, as phlegm, from the throat or lungs by coughing or hawking and spitting; spit. Sentence: If you find it difficult to expectorate, use a vaporizer before trying to cough.

palpate Definition: verb to examine by touch, esp. for the purpose of diagnosing disease or illness. Sentence: The nurse palpated the patient's stomach to feel for her liver.
