Deenabandhu (founded 1992) Non-profit organization in Chamarajanagar, Karnataka, works for the education and rehabilitation of orphan, destitute and estranged children Teacher Resource Center – professional development of government primary school teachers, instill experiment-based learning Primary School – highly subsidized education for poor children from nearby villages Deenabandhu Homes – every child is educated and nurtured until class X, support is continued till economic self reliance is achieved Scholarship Programs – annual economic support to college students in need of financial aid

Teacher Resource Center (TRC) TRC is responsible for developing Teaching and Learning Materials (TLMs) to explain Science and Math concepts by way of practical demonstrations, aimed at professional development of teachers Develop appropriate activities coupled with suitable TLM so kids can comprehend and experience the concept Train teachers through workshops so they appreciate the importance of conducting activities to improve kids’ comprehension To continue with R&D for improved TLMs/ alternate models of TLMs, developing an activity that need no special TLMs TRC is fully supported by Oracle grants since 2015

History of Asha’s Support Funding from Asha was initiated back in 2000, support to-date has been ~$76K Boston/MIT chapter has provided funding of a total of $24.7K 2009 funding ($7200) was to support school meals 2011-2012 ($1000 each) funding was for complete support of 2 girls

THE ASK Rs. 250,000 (~$3900) to upgrade 5 Learning Corners to full Resource Centers ~$780/Learning Corner, one each at a rural government school TRC continues to be funded by Oracle; however, Oracle is unable to support this new request of Rs. 250,000 Budget breakdown currently unavailable 30-35 schools have approached Deenabandhu seeking support in creating low-cost TLMs for them Deenabandhu TRC team is actively supporting them in this endeavor
