How to conjugate a regular –er verb Start with the infinitive. For the 1st group of French verbs, that’s the form ending in –er. For example: parler. In English, we would translate the infinitive as “to speak”. Take the –er off the verb to find the stem. So here, the stem is parl-. Put the following personal endings on the verb.
