Themes??

How does Steinbeck present the theme of loneliness in Of Mice and Men? Loneliness is a very prominent theme in Of Mice and Men, presented by Steinbeck through many characters. He has raised issues of separation between characters, heartbreak as a result of loneliness, and isolation, in his novel, especially through the characters of Curley’s Wife and Crooks. Curley’s Wife is presented as a desolate character- one who should be pitied because of the isolation that is forced upon her. Crooks experiences similar feelings of isolation as Curley’s Wife, but they are much more pronounced and, as a result of his skin colour, is forced to live a life of racial segregation and separation, in an area that was once home to his family’s own ranch.
