KEY THEMES Data protection and cyber-security should be regarded as board level issues Big data has the potential to create new categories of personal data – and increase the scope of regulation Fair and lawful processing is becoming more onerous – with increased requirements for transparency and consent Individuals have the right to be forgotten Individuals have the right to see their data and in future to data portability Anonymisation and pseudonymisation will be increasingly important to ensure compliance Reporting of data breaches will become more onerous
