TREND ANALYSIS OF ANNUAL WATER DISCHARGE AND SEDIMENT LOAD IN THE JUŽNA MORAVA RIVER, SERBIA, DURING 1958-2007 SANJA MANOJLOVIĆ1, TANJA DOBROSAVLJEVIĆ1, MILENA GOCIĆ2, PREDRAG MANOJLOVIĆ1, MARKO MILOŠEVIĆ3 1 UNIVERSITY OF BELGRADE-FACULTY OF GEOGRAPHY, STUDENTSKI TRG 3/3, 11000 BELGRADE 2 UNIVERSITY OF NIŠ - FACULTY OF SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS, DEPARTMENT OF GEOGRAPHY, VIŠEGRADSAKA 33, 18000 NIŠ 3 GEOGRAPHICAL INSTITUTE JOVAN CVIJIĆ SASA, ĐURE JAKŠIĆA 9, 11000 BELGRADE

The Južna Morava basin covers an area of 15,696 km2 Elevation ranges from 300 m to 2169 m Lenght of Južna Morava river is 316 km The amount of precipitation ranged from 600 mm to 1300 mm The Južna Morava has a large number of torrential tributaries Figure 1. The Južna Morava River Basin

Methodology Тhe collected data, obtained from the RHSS, includes daily values of water discharge (Q) and suspended sediment concentration (SSC) at the hydrological station Mojsinje for the period 1958–2007. Non-parametric Мann-Кendall (MK) test Non-parametric Pettit test

Results

Table 3. The results of the Pettitt test for water discharge (Q), specific runoff (q), suspended sediment transport (Qs), and specific suspended sediment transport (Qss). Legend: T- trasition year; m u1 - period after the transition year; m u2 - period before the transition year; p - significance level

Possible Causes of the Downward Trend in Suspended Sediment Transport Climate change and anthropogenic impact on the environment Decrease in precipitation has resulted in a decrease in water discharge and suspended sediment load Anthropogenic influence- measures of erosion control, changes in land use as a result of negative demographic processes, etc.
