Avoiding gossip – if it’s not going to benefit someone don’t say anything Surround yourself with positive people Join clubs – get involved, join sports teams. At the end of the year you must have a minimum of 10 points to pass each class. You want to make sure you have the 10 points by the end of the 3rd quarter to avoid any unnecessary stress Academic Review – any student who receives a D or an F the first 9 weeks. Academic Probation – any student who has been retained, is recovering courses or receives a D or F for two consecutive grading periods, EVEN IF you had an A at any point and already have your 10 points.

Road to College Duke Tip Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP) is a gifted education program based at Duke University. Its stated purpose is to identify gifted children and provide them and their parents the resources for them to reach their full educational potential. Students qualify for Duke TIP’s 7th Grade Talent Search by scoring at or above the 95th percentile on an accepted grade-level standardized test like the FSA. To be considered a candidate students much score 360 or higher in their ELA and Math FSA

Road to College PSAT 8/9 It measures: The PSAT 8/9 is a test that will help you and your teachers figure out what you need to work on most so that you’re ready for college when you graduate from high school. It measures: What you learn in school What you need to succeed in college AP potential

Road to College – Why should I take AP and Dual Enrollment courses? AP® and Dual Enrollment courses are college-level courses offered in high school They absolutely look amazing in your transcripts! Gives you bonus points for weighted GPA. A score of 3 or higher on an AP exam can typically earn students college credit and/or placement into advanced courses in college. Dual enrollment courses give you college credit while in High School.
