The fridge A fridge records the barcodes of everything that you put in and take from it. It records what you have consumed and sends this information through the Internet to a supermarket so that it will automatically order new stock for you. This is a free new service from the supermarket. Why is it free?

The fridge problem Part of the Terms and Conditions of this new service is that the supermarket ‘own’ the data and can share it with others. Who would they share it with? How would they use this data?

Does the Internet of Things threaten our privacy? Your grandfather who is always saying ‘It was never like that in my day’ needs to be persuaded that he should always wear the GPS tag that you have just brought him.
