NACO STRATEGIC PLAN 2014-2020 REVIEW Directions for the Future

NACO’s Mantra Do the right thing and take care of our people. Know we are a maritime organization and that we will excel in that arena. Nurture our Auxiliary culture via servant leaders who understand that to aspire to leadership positions is a noble goal- not merely a position to be filled.

NACO’s Mantra Set high expectations for ourselves and our members. Plan for success but not be afraid to fail.

Mission and Programs 18 different missions and programs that the Auxiliary supports. Contingency Preparedness is near the top of the listing. Qualified Auxiliarists and their facilities are authorized to do the following:

Mission and Programs Provide platforms and personnel for defense and non defense exercises. Develop plans and support contingency response operations for disaster and lesser incidents. Support as unarmed opposition forces (OPFOR). Gather data and information for contingency plans. (Operation Focus Lens)

Response & Prevention Mission Tasking's Tasking & Activities: Perform GAP analysis by determining support requirements & wishes of Coast Guard Units. Determine Auxiliary capacity to support CG units at various operational tempos (Normal Operations, Backfill, Surge &Target Augmentation). Develop plans to address gaps (the Delta) with targeted recruiting/training to fill the gaps. Determine Coast Guard owned, Auxiliary operated facilities.

Accomplishing Mission Tasking Implementation of the “Strategies for Success” Plan http://wow.uscgaux.info/content.php?unit=rp-group There are three elements to the Plan that affect R&P: Identify and promote levels of CG operational Support: Normal Operations (OpsNorm), Backfill (BF), Surge Operations (SO) & Targeted Augmentation (TA). Promote Auxiliary & CG Counterpart Relationships to enhance AD operations and Auxiliary training & support. Support Auxiliary leadership at District level to proactively work with CG District staff, Div. at Sector, Flotilla at unit level.

Accomplishing Mission Tasking Encourage units [AD/AUX] to determine support requirements for their CG units, for personnel, equipment resources and other items by: Identifying CG support needs and match them with Auxiliary resources. Developing plans to handle shortfalls to include training and recruitment programs. (Filling the GAP) Provide links to Skills Bank for Targeted Augmentation.

Accomplishing Mission Tasking Develop means to communicate Auxiliary unit capabilities to CG counterpart units at all levels and to establish CG awareness of Auxiliary capabilities to support their operations. How? Development of monitoring and reporting methodology. Development mechanisms to maintain data integrity.

Before we close, are there any questions?
