Controlling Variables
Our project is plant science. We are going to make a hybrid plant with zucchini and squash.
 What is a variable?  A variable is anything that can affect the results in an experiment.
Tomato Plant Lab. Question: What caused tomato plant A to grow higher than tomato plant B and C? AB Objective: To determine what caused the tomato plant.
Unit One Section Two: Scientific Method 1.State The Problem: The investigator is identifying a problem and making observations as to the cause of the problem.
Parts of an Experiment Parts of an Experiment Variables All of the factors that could be changed in an experiment Constants Independent Dependent.
AIM: How can we set up a controlled experiment
Our hypothesis is if a marigold grows better with a direct light source provided, then marigolds that are exposed to a direct light source will grow better.
CONDUCTING A CONTROLLED EXPERIMENT You perform an experiment to test a hypothesis. Controlled experiment includes 2 set ups. When you do a controlled experiment.
Aim: How are controlled experiments designed?
Scientific Method. Scientific Method: steps of a scientific investigation Varies with researcher, but common steps Collect Observations (5 senses) Ask.

PHOTOSYNTESIS PROJECT BY THE POWER PLANTS CHRISTIAN & KELL (and nazir didnt do jack so hes out and stuffz) Here's his tombstone

BREIF(CASE) INTRODUCKTIONS& Research Question This experiment is important to photosynthesis because it tests the survivability rate off plants that have evolved to grow in more shaded areas rather than more open areas exposed to sunlight. Problem/Research Question: Will shade plants grow less in high-light levels than sun plants, or grow like the sun plant?

Preducktion& Experimental design Research Prediction: If both the sun-loving plants and the shade-loving plants are both put in an open environment, then the shade-loving plants may die before the sun-loving plants because of the excessive amount of light. Experimental Design: Independent Variable: Species of plants. Dependent Variable: Growth/Growth rate Unit of Measurement of Dependent Variable: Centimeters Controlled Variables: Plant location, Amount of water given. Setup Procedure: Plant seeds 2cm below the soil in large glass container. Place container in area with plenty of sunlight. Daily Data Collection Procedure: Tend to plants. Water. Measure growth from seed to tip. get ready to get rekt

Raw data & research cuncluesion (cashew i lost the graph so here a giraffe) DAYS 1 2 3 4 PLANT 1 2 3 5 6 PLANT 2 0 0 0 0 GROWTH IN INCHES Research Giraffe: (ahem, Graph) The sun-loving plant faired far better than the shade-loving plant despite both being treated the exact same in the experiment. Somehow. I don't know. This isn't no masters thesis so dont expect every thing to be perfect.
