Online Marketing Definition: Online marketing is a set of powerful tools and methodologies used for promoting products and services through the internet. What is affiliate marketing?

The Advertiser In the world of affiliate marketing, an advertiser can be a company selling a product like electronics, airline tickets, clothing or car parts, or an advertiser could also be a company that sells their subscriptions (Ex. SOMCABLE selling monthly subscriptions). The most important thing to remember is that you are an advertiser if you are ready to pay other people to help you sell and promote your business.

The Publisher A publisher is an individual or company that promotes an advertiser’s product or service in exchange for earning a commission. Advertisers contractually agree to work with a publisher, then provide the publisher with creative -- in the form of links, banner or text ads or even unique phone numbers -- that the publisher incorporates into their website.

THE CONSUMER The final component that completes the affiliate relationship triangle is the consumer. The consumer is the one who actually sees the ad and then makes an action (either by clicking a link or by submitting their information via a form) that takes them from the publisher’s website to the advertiser’s to complete the action, which we call a conversion.

What role will you be playing?

The Publisher The role that you will have for this job is the Publisher. You will work for an organization or company that sells products, and you will be responsible for selling those products to the entire world. For every product that you sell, you will recieve a set commission, and that money will be held online where you will have the opportunity to withdraw it here in Hargeisa.

How will you sell your products?

Affiliate Marketing Process 1) Choose your niche (special category or group, distinguished, more specific.) 2) Research different affiliate programs and products. 3) Build a site. 4) Produce excellent content 5) Build an audience 6) Promote your affiliate product (s). (this will be with your unique LINK. Remember this*, as it will be referred to throughout the course) 7) Repeat steps 4-7 on a continual basis!

CASE STUDY: PAY ATTENTION! We will be going through the affiliate marketing process with the 7 steps listed in the previous slide to show you step by step how to set up your affiliate marketing business so that you may start earning an income online!

CHOOSING YOUR NICHE How do I pick a niche? Market Research Do research on products that are trending, some of the tools that we will discuss in this course on how to do this is Google Trends, Facebook, Twitter etc. Find a niche in which has quite a few products (up to 20) that you are able to sell on your website If you have any skills or hobbies that you are able to talk about and write articles about that? Try to pick a niche that can relate to this Look into the conversion rates for the products that your potential niche could make. Usually digital products, and online courses have a higher commission rate than physical products, however it may be easier to sell physical products The niche that we will pick for this case study is digital information products - “earning money online”

2) Research different affiliate programs Affiliate programs are many and scarce on the internet, some of them offer higher commission rates, whilst some of them offer different payout methods. Usually for digital information products, the commission rate is much higher, at times paying out to 50-75% of the original price. There are many different affiliate programs that offer digital products, however we will choose “Clickbank” for this case study. The category of products that we will focus on in Clickbank will be “earning money online” e-books.

3) BUILDING A WEBSITE Once picking a book from Clickbank to promote, it is essential to begin building a website. There are many platforms that you may use which do not necessarily require coding knowledge in order to build a website Examples of these platforms include wordpress, wix, weebly, etc. In this course, we will be going through a number of these platforms, however we will specifically target weebly for affiliate marketing On a seperate day, we will go through how to build a website from scratch, enabling one to set up his own affiliate marketing company.

4) BUILDING A WEBSITE...WHAT SHOULD BE INCLUDED? When you are selling a product online, one must have a unique selling point in order to persuade the customer into buying the item. When it comes to affiliate marketing, blogs and reviews are excellent ways of achieving this purpose. Our product, the “e-book”, would be the focal point of an article on the website which would describe it’s contents and why it would be a great buy. The consumer would go to the website looking for information to buy the item, however this is the opportunity to include your link to the conversion page in order to buy the item.

5) BUILDING AN AUDIENCE There are many techniques that one may use to build and audience and generate leads on their affiliate marketing website, including creating subscription forms, and collecting information from visitors. Once data is collected, to continually send out updates via newsletters is a great way to continuously engage with your audience. Audiences are built through online marketing strategies that will be covered in this course, which include social media campaigns (facebook, twitter, instagram, etc.), search engine optimization, and other strategies! This course will cover secret techniques to building an audience, and strategies to convert them into sales!

6) PROMOTING YOUR PRODUCT! Once you have built a solid audience that trusts you, it is important to key in on this opportunity to sell your products! This may be done by contacting leads directly through private messaging, emails, phone calls, etc. This may also be done by promoting on a wider scale through social media campaigns, crowdfunding platforms, etc. If you have the money, this may also be done through paid advertising campaigns!
