Explore the Picture Below!

Read The Text Below! Plants are living beings. They need food, water and air for survival. Plants derive their food from the earth and the air. If you look at their roots, you will find that ends of these roots are like fine fibers. We call them root-hairs. They absorb water and minerals, then transport them upwards to the leaves through the trunk and the branches. It is the leaves which prepare the food. The green material, chlorophyll, prepares the food like a machine. It converts the carbon dioxide taken from the air and water from the ground into sugar with the help of sunlight. This chemical reaction is called photosynthesis. In fact, the chlorophyll takes energy from the sunlight and uses it to synthesize the hydrogen from water and carbon from carbon dioxide for making sugar. This reaction also gives out oxygen and water which are excreted by the leaves.

The Communicative Purpose of Report Text The purpose of report text is to describe people, things or place in general.

GENERAL CLASSIFICATION Tigers GENERAL CLASSIFICATION The tiger (panthera tigris) is the largest member of the cat family. DESCRIPTIONS Tigers have striped fur, usually orange stripes on black with a white underbelly. Adult tigers range from 4.5 feet (1.37 m) to 9 feet (2.7 m) long. Males are larger than females. Tigers are meat eaters (carnivores). Their prey includes small- to medium-sized mammals (like rabbits, boars, deer, and wild cattle) Tigers are mostly solitary animals except for times of mating and when the female cares for her young cubs. Tigers live in Asia, primarily in forests (some tigers live in areas with tall grasses, areas where they can hide while hunting). Tigers are very good swimmers and like the water, unlike most cats.
