WHAT IS NEPAD? The New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) is an economic development program of AU. NEPAD was adopted the Assembly of Heads of State and Government 2001 in Lusaka, Zambia

Objectives to eradicate poverty, promote sustainable growth and development, integrate Africa in the world economy, and accelerate the empowerment of women.

Criticism NEPAD was met with skepticism from much of civil society in Africa as playing into the 'Washington Consensus' model of economic development. Civil society was not included in the initial discussions on NEPAD NEPAD suffers from slow decision-making, and are poorly resourced. Lack of information about the day-to-day activities Its secretariat formerly in Ethiopia)
