Counting Coins for 1st grade

Content Teks: Counting Coins (4) Number and operations. The student applies mathematical process standards to identify coins, their values, and the relationships among them in order to recognize the need for monetary transactions. (A)  identify U.S. coins, including pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters, by value and describe the relationships among them.

Vocabulary: Penny, Nickel, Dime, Quarter, Dollar Cents. The children will use addition to figure out how much change is in each bag.

Today we will be learning about the names of coins and the value of coins which we use on a daily basis to pay for goods.

The value of each coin is as follows: quarter-. 25 dime-. 10 nickel- The value of each coin is as follows: quarter- .25 dime- .10 nickel- .05 penny- .01 half dollar- .50
